After work yesterday I decided to go to the closest salvage yard to my house. In the next couple weeks I plan on getting parts to fix up my Jeep. Let’s keep in mind that this is a fairly large salvage yard.

“Okay, so what are you looking for?

“I need a cylinder head for a 2000 Jeep Cherokee with the 4.0.”

*click, click click*”it doesn’t look like I have any of those in stock. Anything else?”

“Actually, I need a radiator too.”

“Automatic?” “Yes”

*click, click* “Only have one for a manual.”

(Hating life)“ how about a driver’s seat?”

*click*forelorn look* “I only have a tan...”

*wondering how he knew my seats were grey* “how about rims?”

“Five spokes would be $50 apiece.”

They have one thing I want and it is literally the last thing I want to buy.also in the end I will probably buy a brand new radiator so don’t hate me.

Will the head from a Wrangler or GC not work?

Your heads are 0331? That would explain the cracking.

Yep, it was pretty bad too. Non car people need to have their car looked at at the first inkling of trouble I think.

I’ve been wondering that myself. I've heard of peopl putting the newer Grand Cherokee heads on to get around the cracking issue. I haven't researched it enough to to take the chance yet.

I’d definitely look into it. It probably is a direct swap.

I've been researching and it appears to be. I just have to remember to search for TUPY under the oil fill cap. Seems simple enough. Plus that would keep me from having to fix future head problems, in theory at least.
